A timber entry door hung beside a matching sidelight and louvre panel

If it can be made out of timber.

Doors, staircases, cabinetry, benchtops and one-off pieces, all cut from solid timber in the Bungalow workshop. Bring the sizes and the idea, we will tell you what the board will do.

What comes out of the shop.

Everything below is made here, one piece at a time, from boards you can put your hand on first.

01

Solid timber entry doors

The first thing anyone touches on your house. Made to the opening you have, in the timber you pick, with the glazing and hardware set out to suit the front of the place rather than a catalogue page.

  • Panelled, slotted and glazed designs
  • Matching sidelights and highlights
  • Hung and hardware fitted, or supplied ready to hang

Internal doors, barn doors and screens

Inside the house the sizes are rarely standard, especially in an older Queenslander. Doors get made to the actual opening, so they swing, slide and shut the way they should.

  • Ledged, panelled and flush internal doors
  • Barn-style sliders on exposed track
  • Timber screens, louvre panels and privacy sets

Staircases, treads and handrails

Full stairs built and installed, or a single tread cut to size while you wait. Open risers, closed strings, winders and landings, with handrails shaped to sit right in the hand.

  • Straight, turning and winder staircases
  • Open and closed treads in solid hardwood
  • Handrails, newels and single replacement treads

Built-in cabinetry and furniture

Cabinets, sideboards, robes, shelving and stand-alone furniture in solid timber. This is where the "bespoke one off cabinet ideas" a customer wrote about actually get made.

  • Built-in cabinetry made to the wall, not to a module
  • Glazed, panelled and slatted door fronts
  • Free-standing pieces for a renovation

Benchtops, vanities and slab tops

Kitchen and laundry tops, vanity tops, table tops and live-edge slabs. The board is chosen for the figure you want to see, then dressed, joined and finished so it wears well around water.

  • Straight-edge and live-edge slab tops
  • Basin and tap cut-outs machined to your fittings
  • Hand-finished, ready to install

Machining, repairs and one-offs

Bring it in. A tread that is too tall, a door that needs trimming, a slab that wants dressing, or a shape nobody else will attempt. The shop has the gear and the counter is open to small jobs.

  • Dressing, docking, trimming and machining
  • Repairs to existing timber joinery
  • Curved and shaped one-off components

Not sure what you need? Ask anyway.

Half the job is working out what is possible in timber and what is not. Ring up or call in with the measurements, and you will get a straight answer before you spend anything.

Where the work goes out to.

The workshop is on Federation Street in Bungalow, and pieces go out to Bungalow and surrounding areas. If you are further afield, ring and ask.
