Real timber. Made once, made properly.
A working cabinet-making shop in Bungalow. Entry doors, staircases, cabinetry and one-off pieces, cut from solid timber and finished by hand.

A shed full of timber, and the people who know it.
Bruce Rutherfurd Cabinet Making is a hands-on shop, not a showroom. Boards get chosen off the rack, machined here, and put together properly. One customer called it "A place full of knowledge and wisdom" and another "a treasure trove of timber". That is a fair description of the place.
- Bespoke one-off pieces, drawn from your idea
- Solid timber doors, stairs, cabinetry and tops
- Machining and repairs for pieces you bring in
- Straight advice on timber, before you commit
What comes out of the shop.

Every piece starts with the board.
The grain decides where the joins go, which face shows, and how a door will sit in ten years. That is the part a flat pack cannot do, and it is why people come back here for the piece they actually wanted.

Frequently asked questions.
Can't see your question? Call Bruce on (07) 4031 5316.
What sort of jobs do you take on?
Solid timber work, mostly. Entry and internal doors, barn doors and screens, staircases, treads and handrails, built-in cabinetry, benchtops, vanities and one-off furniture pieces. If it can be made out of timber, it is worth asking about.
Can you make a one-off piece from my idea?
That is a good part of the work here. Bring a sketch, a photo or just the measurements and the idea, and Bruce will talk you through what the timber will and will not do before anything is cut.
Can I bring a piece in to be machined or fixed?
Yes. The shop is set up with the gear to dress, trim, machine and repair timber, so small jobs brought in over the counter are welcome alongside the bigger builds.
Where are you, and what areas do you cover?
The workshop is at 31 Federation Street, Bungalow, and we look after Bungalow and surrounding areas. If you are a bit further out, ring and ask.
How do I get a price?
Call, or send the details through the contact form. A free quote comes back once Bruce knows the size, the timber and how the piece needs to fit.
